Northbound

I got to spend the holiday weekend with my boyfriend. After getting home from Atlanta around midnight Friday, we headed north to my hometown to spend the weekend catching up on some fall activities. It was a nice change of pace for the both of us. 

Fall is coming

 It's always hard for me to bid adieu to tan skin and days of freedom when September rolls around, but it's comforting knowing that summer will be back before we know it. I've gotta say I am beyond ready for sweater weather.  While, of course it's still about 1000 degrees outside I find myself ready to wrap myself in a cozy pullover and sip on some chai tea. I consider myself a summertime person. of you who know me personally will know that I am quite a fan of layering for fall and winter. A my cold weather uniform consists of exactly this, a sweater, a slip dress, tall socks, and my favorite boots.

I have been in love with this jacket for two years and a fews weeks ago I finally took the plunge and bought it.

My Mom always told me "In the winter, coats are a very important staple. It's the first that people see you in. You want to make an impression." This has really stuck with me throughout the years.

Eggplant Fries For Days

If anyone were ever to want to stalk me, the best place to find me is in Refuge Cafe in Allston Village. I go there a lot to do homework and sip iced coffee. I could also sit there and eat their eggplant fries for days...

King Richard's Faire

If there is one fall tradition that I love, it's my annual trip to King Richard's Faire! What other fall activity allows you to dress up in medieval garb and wander around with a sword? I mean I guess…Halloween, but whatever. 

I've got to admit, this was my first time going to the faire since high school, but it honestly felt like I had never been away. The people and characters were still as friendly as they had been three years ago. 

We couldn't have asked for better weather either. We had originally planned on going to the faire couple weeks back, but were unable to due the rain. With the bright autumn sun shinning bright overhead, we walked through the fairgrounds, sipping hot apple cider and eating our giant turkey legs (not me…#vegetarianprobz) What better way to spend a sunny Sunday?

Technicolor Dream Coat

I am without a doubt a summertime person. I live for 90+ degree weather when the sun is shinning. Despite my love for hot days, I can't deny my relief when the days begin to cool down and I'm able to pull out my crazy sweater collection. When the weather gets cold, it's rare that you catch me without a big cozy mass of yarn on my body. 

I finally received this masterpiece in the mail the other day. Every year I try to limit the amount of sweaters I trickle into my closet. I mean how often are you going to wear all of them? As soon as I saw it in Free People's September catalogue, I knew that I just had to have it.

It is pieces like this that remind me why I fell in love with Free People in the first place. The cardigan itself is simple in its design, but the colors and yarns used are so unique! Also the material is so soft and cozy I almost fell asleep on my bus ride to class. Opps.

Rainy Daydream

We're all familiar with that feeling. You open one sleepy eye and hear it - the drip, drip (or sometimes the tap dance) of raindrops. You already know before you even leave your bed, that all you're going to want to do today is close your eyes again and go back to sleep. For me, today was one of those days.

I've felt a bit overextended lately. September has been a very busy month for me, with moving and school starting things have been a little less than relaxing for me. I have been working a lot and on top of that I have had a lot of school work. It has been hard to find some "breathe" time. 

Today I woke up and knew that I was going to need a mental health day. I skipped my first class and decided to use that extra time to run a few errands and catch up on some work. It would have been nice to be able to curl up in my bed with Netflix and a big cup of tea, but we'll see the day isn't over yet.

All I need for fall.

Running the Instagram at work, flat-lays have become a big part of my life. Lately I've found that I've been doing it in my everyday life as well. There's just something about laying out my clothes for the day, seeing how the colors play off of each other, that makes me a bit giddy inside.

Thanksgiving

I hope that everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! I know I did. My Dad came home from sea this past Wednesday so he was able to be there for all of our Thanksgiving activities. It was a pretty low-key holiday; we spent the day at my aunt's house in Lincoln, Massachusetts among a family and friends. It was certainly one of the coldest Thanksgiving days that I have experienced in a while, but the house smelt like home cooking and warmth. I am always thankful to be surrounded by my family, seeing as our family seems to have shrunk such an enormous amount in the past few years. It is a comfort to know that I am not alone, especially during the holidays. 

Always be reminded of the things that make you feel thankful to be living.
