stay weird

(Brandy Melville crop top, DIY shorts and flower crown, Kirra kimono, Converse sneakers, Free People moon pendant, vintage stone necklace, vintage silver rings, So Good bug ring)

I put this outfit together the other day to be featured on Not For Magazines, my friend Lexii's new fashion blog. Check it out if you haven't already!

I wore this outfit out to the mall. A lot of people (mostly 14 year-olds) asked me where I got my shorts from. I looked at them and smiled and told them that I  had gotten the shorts at a thrift store and had sewn on the little cloth flowers. They got very excited and said that they would definitely be doing that on their next "craft night." I had me thinking "Gee I wish we had 'craft nights' when I was that age."

Friends

A little over a year ago, I turned to my good friend, John, and asked "Do you think we'll still be friends after high school?" He looked at me and laughed, "Of course!"

Around this time last year, the 6 of us were about to go our separate ways - off to college. For the first time in four years, we would have to readjust to a completely new environment. We would no longer see each other every day like we had in high school. We were all a bit nervous, but still very anxious and excited to begin the next chapter in our lives. Now a year later, we are gearing up to leave home again. All with a bit more knowledge and direction than we had last year.

Still it is a bittersweet occasion. We have all been home for a little over three months, we all have fallen into our little routines; some of them may somewhat resemble the ones we had when we were still in high - living at home and seeing the same people.

It is sobering to know, that we can come home and see each other again.

We all got together the other night for one last hurrah before we all start going off to college. We hung out by the pool at Jacky's, ate pizza, roasted marshmallows, and reminisced about the days gone by.

I know that we will all see each other again. With the summer sun shinning in our eyes, the heat on our skin, and our laughter punctuating the air.

Not For Magazines

Check out my feature on my good friend Lexii's blog Not For Magazines! Lexii and I have been good friends since our freshman year of high school. Since our first meeting the two of us have been completely obsessed with fashion and art. We have collaborated creatively many times. I am ecstatic that she has started up this blog and I can't wait to see it grow!

Lake Winnie!

My friends and I escaped to Lake Winnipesaukee to visit our friend Jill, who has been living with her grandparents on the lake for a good part of the summer. Everything was absolutely ideal...except for the weather. It was rather dreary out. We hung out around the house, did a little bit of shopping in Wolfboro (no photos because it was POURING!) and even got to take a ride on the misty lake winnie on Jill's grandparents' speedboat. It was an awesome day spent with friends. The fact that we were able to have a great time even on a rainy day was incredible.

Just the fact that this dog is wearing a life preserver...

Pen Pals

I spent a couple of days down in Lincoln, Massachusetts with my aunt and cousins. It was good to get away from home for a while, away from habit and the doldrums. My family lives on the Farrington property in Lincoln, which functions as a summer camp  in July and August. A number of farm animals also move onto the property during the summer months. Our favorite happen to be the goats. We like to visit them in their pen to feed and play with them.
