Kaftans Though...

(Kaftan from Singapore, thrifted bag, Free People clogs, rings thrifted and from Free People and H&M)

I found this kaftan in small shop in Holland Village back in Singapore. I think this is my favorite item of clothing that I bought while I was there. What I love about this piece is that it can be worn long and loose (which is preferable) or it can be belted and worn shorter. The silhouette is comfy and simple, which is essentially what I go for when it comes to summer dressing. Of course I chose to dress it up with some chunky clogs and lots of jewelry.

Romping Around

(Forever 21 romper, Urban Outfitters bag, Converse sneakers, Free People coin necklace, bracelets and rings from everywhere)

I had my cousin, Sarah, take these photos of me after our trip to the Aquarium the other day. Just in case you were wondering how I managed an OOTD post while flying through time and space. I figured I'd queue up a post to keep my blog occupied while I'm in transit.

Anyway..

I have been looking for a cute little romper like this EVERYWHERE! But me being me, I tend to be very picky. I have accumulated so many pieces of clothing over the years that I now I have to very selective (even more so than I already was) about what I choose to spend my money on.

What I love about this romper is how easy it is. When it's hot and humid (especially in Singapore) the last thing I feel like doing is tugging and adjusting all day. Throw in an armful of colorful bangles, a bunch of rings, and a giant coin necklace and I'm good to go.

Traveler

(Free People skirt, tank, and sandals

There's nothing I love more than a cool print. When we first got this dress in-store back in March, I really liked it, but I wasn't sold yet. But then we received it in a new color this past week and it was all over. I even had dreams about it. The fabric is so soft and light, it makes the perfect summer skirt.

As most of you may know, yesterday marked to summer solstice and the first day of summer! no season like summer. I find that all the other season are spent waiting for summer to begin again. Maybe it's the fact that I was born during this hot and humid season? Maybe it's because my mother was from a very hot place? All I know is that summer is my favorite season for dressing and just all-in-all living.

Calling the Storm

(Free People tunic and shorts, Urban Outfitters bra, handmade flower crown)

It has been a very busy couple of months, but I finally got around to doing a little shoot with Lexii!

I also wanted everyone to know that I have opened my own little Etsy shop. I have loved make flower crowns for years and thought that it was about time that I started selling them.

The wildflower crown that Lexii is wearing can be purchased here.

Farewell to Summer

Today I bid farewell to my childhood home and returned to my home in the city! I said goodbye to the crowded flower beds and shady trees and welcomed in the sounds of sirens and the skyscrapers.

I write this to you from my half unpacked dorm room (no photos yet because it looks like a disaster.) I am reflecting on this past summer. I made a to-do list right before the end of the school year; I completed some of these goals while others went forgotten.

1) Finish On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

Nope.

2) Road to see Dakota (my freshman year roommate)

Nope.

3) Maybe fall in love.

PIFF! Yeah right!

Yeah so those weren't such a success...

My little house plants taking a ride in the front seat!

These on the other hand were a success!

4) Craft my heart out!

5) Take photos.

6) Go to a flea market!

7) Make $$$.

I worked  as a cart girl at Four Oaks Country Club. I learned a lot - not only how to properly open a bottle of wine, but also how to connect with customers. I also did quite a bit of free lance work as a photographer, taking senior portraits for incoming seniors as well as my first ever baby portrait session!

8) Concert weekend with Sophie!

My roommate, Sophie and I were reunited in Boston after about a month of not seeing each other. We had a blast, shopping and exploring by day and getting lost in the music by night.

XX performing at the Boston Pavilion.

While there were some goals/plans that I was unable to achieve, there were quite a few that I did do. I really think that that is all you can hope for - in the short-term as well as in the long-term.

I am very excited to be back at Simmons College. I am so ready for the next few months of city-living. Walks to Newbury Street, hanging out on the quad on residence campus, and especially spending time with all of the friends that I have made in the past year.

It is crazy to think of where I was a year ago.

Friends

A little over a year ago, I turned to my good friend, John, and asked "Do you think we'll still be friends after high school?" He looked at me and laughed, "Of course!"

Around this time last year, the 6 of us were about to go our separate ways - off to college. For the first time in four years, we would have to readjust to a completely new environment. We would no longer see each other every day like we had in high school. We were all a bit nervous, but still very anxious and excited to begin the next chapter in our lives. Now a year later, we are gearing up to leave home again. All with a bit more knowledge and direction than we had last year.

Still it is a bittersweet occasion. We have all been home for a little over three months, we all have fallen into our little routines; some of them may somewhat resemble the ones we had when we were still in high - living at home and seeing the same people.

It is sobering to know, that we can come home and see each other again.

We all got together the other night for one last hurrah before we all start going off to college. We hung out by the pool at Jacky's, ate pizza, roasted marshmallows, and reminisced about the days gone by.

I know that we will all see each other again. With the summer sun shinning in our eyes, the heat on our skin, and our laughter punctuating the air.
