Thanksgiving

I hope that everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! I know I did. My Dad came home from sea this past Wednesday so he was able to be there for all of our Thanksgiving activities. It was a pretty low-key holiday; we spent the day at my aunt's house in Lincoln, Massachusetts among a family and friends. It was certainly one of the coldest Thanksgiving days that I have experienced in a while, but the house smelt like home cooking and warmth. I am always thankful to be surrounded by my family, seeing as our family seems to have shrunk such an enormous amount in the past few years. It is a comfort to know that I am not alone, especially during the holidays.

Always be reminded of the things that make you feel thankful to be living.

Tea Time

BRRRR! It has been so cold here in Boston for the last fews days! There is nothing I like more than curling up in my warm, cozy bed with a book and a cup of tea to melt the chill away. But while this may be all I have the energy for, life goes on. Thanksgiving break begins next week and you know what that mean? Loads of homework. The only thing that is keeping me going is the thought that I just need to get through 6 more days at school and I get to be home, surrounded by family. A bit early, but I'm thankful for that.

fallen leaves and naked trees

Finally got out and did some wandering today. I was originally planning on catching up on my sleep this morning, but due to some very inconsiderate people outside my window this morning I didn't  get this privilege. Rather than sitting in my room fuming, I happened the notice the quality of the light outside. The sun was shining and the temperature was mild. I decided that it was the perfect morning to go for a walk. So I walked among the fallen leaves and naked trees with my camera in-hand to capture their beauty.

Have a happy Saturday! Get out and explore!

Breath

Hey guys, long time no post, no? I just figured that I would post a little something. I was sitting at my desk after work today and had the urge to photograph something...had a bit of a vain moment in other words.

ANYWAY!

It is almost Friday and thank the stars! It has been quite a stressful week. It began well enough, but as Wednesday approached I was pretty ready for it to be over. Out of all of the days, Wednesday the most stressful. I had a Spanish test in the morning, which I had been studying like crazy for. The test did not go as well as I would have hoped and I left feeling pretty defeated. I felt like this for the majority of the day before I showed up at work to find that my girls were in similar situations - exhausted, stressed, and just down-right done. For me, this was really the peak of this week's tension. Judging by the people around me, this past week has been hard on many.

This week has definitely been a week to remember the bigger picture. Not doing well on one test is not going to affect my career as a college student or later as a professional - it will only take a toll if I allow it to. Thinking about certain situations in this fashion really puts things in perspective. I really need to remind myself to just breath sometimes.

In and out.

May I never be perfect

It was my roommate's 20th birthday yesterday so for her birthday she decided to get her first tattoo. Seeing as I just got my first a few months ago, it was really cool to be able to go as moral support. Going with her really made me want to get another one...but I know my dad would KILL me if I did.

She tattooed "May I never be perfect" on her radius as pictured. I think that everyone has a little bit of perfectionist in them and sometimes it can be very hard to accept that not everything can go the way that you want. I really love the fact that she had it written in her own handwriting and not in a cookie-cutter font. What could be more perfectly imperfect than doing it in your own handwriting?

Happy 20th birthday Sophie! I'm so glad that I got to be there with you!

Smokin' Joes

A few weeks ago, I went with my roommate to see her boyfriend's band, the Nickel and Dim Band at Smokin' Jones BBQ & Blues in Brighton. It was a fun night and the Sophie and I definitely needed it. We so rarely get out off campus and it was nice to get dressed up and hang out.

Here is a little shameless selfie of the two of us
