Staycation

(Design Lab jacket, Free People bodysuit and flares, and ASOS belt)

Last year, I did your typical spring break. I spent my week off from school sunning myself on the beaches of St. John. It was an amazing and relaxing experience and I returned with a nice tan, ready to take on the rest of my semester.

This year went a little differently.

I spent this spring break at work. While I was a little bummed to not be sitting out by the pool on my last break of college, I was happy to be able to spend some time regrouping from the last 6 weeks school.

Like most people, I find running a million miles a minute (mentally) pretty draining. We all require some time to reset our minds and bodies. I chose to do this through doing yoga daily. Just having this 60 minutes of time to set an intention for myself and breath through my challenges.

So you might not be traveling this spring break. There are a number of things you can do instead. Spend some of your free time reading that book you've been meaning to finish, go explore a new area of your city or just catch up with friends who are staying in town too!

Suited Up

(Thrifted skirt, belt  and jacket, American Apparel bodysuit, Madewell backpack, Jeffrey Campbell for Free People boots, Free People bra)

If there's one thing I haven't played around with much, it's bodysuits. We've been getting a ton of bodysuits at the store I decided that it was time to have some fun! It was oddly warm so decided to pair it with long flowy skirt that I found at Savers a couple years ago along with a belt that belonged to my Mom. I went for a light denim jacket and my favorite lace up boots to give a bit of a rougher finish.

This leather backpack is another obsession but I'll save that for another post.

Overall

Free People overalls, top (similar) and sunnies, Carlos by Carlos Santana boots (similar), and assorted bangles (similar

Weekends off call for comfy attire. I'm definitely the type of girl who loves to twirl around in a pretty dress and tall boots, but occasionally I'll opt for something a little more casual. But of course, I had to keep it girly with a flowy top and an armful of bangles

I've had my eye on these overalls since starting at Free People two years ago, but decided to finally bite the bullet and get them a few days ago. I couldn't be happier with them! The material is super stretchy and comfortable, I almost wore them all weekend!

With Love

To me, there is nothing that makes me feel more beautiful that a dress with flowy sleeves. Maybe it's my childhood love from princesses and fairytales, maybe I'm just a fan of sleeve getting got in the breeze.

These were taken a few weeks ago, on an unseasonably warm November day. I put my boots back on in a hurry after we were done taking photos. I know that warm weather so late in the fall really isn't good for the environment, but I'm not complaining...

Emma

This girl is an absolute gem. A few weeks ago she helped me with a little styling project I had. One thing I love about my job is being surrounded by such amazing people. I am so thankful for all of you beauties. I am so lucky to be inspired by all of you everyday when I walk through the door.

Thank you.

Simply

I've always been someone to pile on the layers, but lately I've opted for simpler dressing. I wear this dress at least twice a week. The fabric is so soft and the cut is so comfortable! I wear it with everything from boots, to sneakers to heels. I really need more pieces like this one in my life especially when things get crazy! It's just so easy to grab and throw on.

Atlanta: Day 1

My first day in Atlanta was crazy! It started in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. I woke up to catch my 5 am flight and arrived in Georgia around 10 am. I didn't have anywhere to be until later in the evening so after checking into my hotel, I decided to spend the afternoon exploring the city.

I took Atlanta like a local, traveling by Marta, Atlanta's public transport system. I wandered around uptown, stopping into to say hello to the girls at the Free People store there. I grabbed a latte at a coffeeshop before heading to the W Hotel for the Home Office Recruiting session.

We met in a very comfortable setting. In my experience, Free People girls really know how to create a relaxed atmosphere.

After the session, a bunch of the other recruits and I decided to go out for dinner at an adorable spot in the Westend of Atlanta. We immediately connected bonding over the smallest things, like making an MPOS order or dealing with customers. The amazing thing about working for Free People is the great sense of community!

I feel as if anywhere I go, wherever there are Free People girls, I'm home.

Fall is coming

(Sweater, slip & boots all by Free People)

It's always hard for me to bid adieu to tan skin and days of freedom when September rolls around, but it's comforting knowing that summer will be back before we know it. I've gotta say I am beyond ready for sweater weather.  While, of course it's still about 1000 degrees outside I find myself ready to wrap myself in a cozy pullover and sip on some chai tea. I consider myself a summertime person. of you who know me personally will know that I am quite a fan of layering for fall and winter. A my cold weather uniform consists of exactly this, a sweater, a slip dress, tall socks, and my favorite boots.

Here's to sweater weather coming soon!

Winter Blues

All this crazy winter weather has me lusting for warmer weather. I'm very prone to the winter blues and this year was no exception. I'm the type of girl who needs the sun to stay sane. I'm sure this is true for most people, but I promise that I'm just a little more dependent on this warm star than most.

The fact that we have some pretty amazing spring product in store right now, doesn't help in the slightest. I treated myself to this cute little "brami" yesterday, telling myself -

"Hey, in a few weeks you'll be basking in the sun in St. John's. You need this little guy!"

Until then, you'll find me wearing this with pants/maxi skirts and cardigans.

Embellished

(Free People shift dress and Jeffrey Campbell for Free People Boots)

There has been a recent development in my taste in clothing. Sparkle. While I would never consider my style simple, sequins and glitter have really never been involved in my wardrobe. This holiday season however, things have changed. With the amount of beautiful, sparkly product we've been receiving at Free People Boston, how could I resist?

I think that my sparkly discovery goes a little deeper than clothing itself. Things have been crazy to say the least. But in these last few stressful weeks, I feel that I have really come into my own. I now feel that I understand myself more, I know what I'm capable of, and I know that I have issues with not finishing what I start. These past months have been stressful to the max with work and school, but I can deal because it'll all be worth it in the end. In the end I will be shinning.

Golden Quills

I have been in love with this jacket for two years and a fews weeks ago I finally took the plunge and bought it.

My Mom always told me "In the winter, coats are a very important staple. It's the first that people see you in. You want to make an impression." This has really stuck with me throughout the years.

My Mom was full of fashion philosophy.
