Outfit from the Lowell Folk Fest

Free People slip and sunglasses, Minnetonka sandals, thrifted necklace and bangles, Forever 21 ring.

I got a fair amount of birthday money that I still had not spent. It had been a long time since I last bought something from Free People so I decided to splurge a bit. I got the Voile and Lace slip and Abbey Road sunnies. I've had the Voile and Lace slip in tea for a long time and I wear a TON! So I figured it was time for a new, more vibrant color. And the Abbey Road sunnies well how could I resist? I've had my eye on them for a while. I was so excited when the package finally arrived that I just had to wear them both!

Summer Rain

The summer girl awakes to the drip-drip of morning rain.

Her eyes grow weary from the gloom, but as she dresses in dark and dank,

She reminds herself that there must be a cold and rain, in order to keep the warmth and the sun.

My Tattoo

I got this tattoo about two months ago. My parents were never too keen on tattoos and neither was I to be honest; I couldn't see myself  wanting something enough to get it permanently marked on my body. But when my mom's cancer came back in 2011, I began to consider getting one. My parents said no at first, but when my mom told me that she was terminal last summer, she gave me her blessing. This tattoo serves as a reminder to me that despite her passing, my mom is with me everyday.

Newport (Part 2)

Our last day in Newport was spent doing some last minute sight-seeing. We found an amazing little spot among the mansions; a small rock formation jetting out into the ocean. We swam in the water and paused to take same family photos. This was a much-needed trip. It really showed me that it doesn't matter where I go, it matters who I go there with. Being in Newport with my family was great because I was there with my family. I love them more than anything and being with me makes me realize that no matter how broken our family may seem, it is still a good one.

Newport (Part 1)

On Sunday, my family and I traveled to Newport, Rhode Island for a little getaway. I had never been there before and my aunt and uncle had, so they gave us the grand tour. On the first day we explored the Cliff Walk, toured the Newport mansions, and got attacked by red seaweed on the beach. It was great to get out of Massachusetts for a bit and explore a new place.

Beach Bums

On Wednesday my friends and I decided to take advantage of this heat wave and went to the beach. We spent the day soaking up the rays, wading through the water, and eating ice cream. It was too hot to do much else! I hope to spend some more time at the beach before I leave to go back the school. I also hope everyone is staying nice and cool!

Love you more

My aunt gave me this mug for my birthday last weekend. "I love you more," my mother used to say this to me everyday. Since my mom's passing last year, whenever my aunt finds something with this saying on it, she gives it to me as a gift. It makes me smile every time. It is like a little message from Mom.
